The week of May 9th was a very busy week for Elm Street students. The East Prince Music Festival was that week and many of our students participated in the festival.
All of our students from Kindergarten to Grade Three participated on May 11. This was an exciting morning and was the culmination of lots of hard work by these students. Each grade level performed two songs and the adjudicator had many fine comments about our students’ performances. It was wonderful to see so many parents in attendance supporting our students. Thank-you to the teachers and parents who assisted them in learning their words to the songs. Your help was greatly appreciated.
Both our Primary and Elementary Choirs participated on May 9. They were entered in two classes and performed two songs in each class. The adjudicator was impressed and she commented on their fine musicality. They sang beautifully and were invited to perform at the Stars of the Festival Concert on May 17 which they did splendidly. At this concert our school was presented with the following awards:
The Honorable O.H. Phillips Award for Elementary School Choirs: presented to our Grade 1 English classes
The Star Construction Award for singing in French as a second language: presented to our Grade 3 French Immersion classes
The East Prince Music Festival School Choir Award and The Journal Pioneer School Choirs Award: presented to Elm Street Primary and Elementary Choirs.
Congratulations also to all our Elm Street students who participated in the East Prince Music Festival singing vocal solos, musical theatre solos, and playing piano solos and duets. This takes a lot of commitment and we are very proud of you.
